This is okay to share, whether on the podcast or otherwise! I must note though that I am going to be changing a couple names. The people involved aren't internet savvy, but on the off chance something dubious really is going on, yaknow? I'm back after only a mere 17 hours from my last post to talk about the crazy stuff that led up to me believing the town I group up in is run by some sort of cult or secret society. This is a long one so get comfy. What started as a funny bit between my roommates and I spiraled into a murder mystery with a possibly supernatural cult origin. This began with my roommates and I exploring an abandoned house that was across the street from us on a whim. A newly married couple lived there but the wife left the husband one day and nobody has seen or talked to her since, and the husband had a heart attack a couple months later and died in the hospital. The house had all of the belongings still in it. It was hella haunted but I'm not going to talk about that, I'm actually kind of salty about it cause I caught some compelling shit on video but my files got fucked up and all i have left are some vaguely spooky photos. I'll insert a few here though for funsies. the chained up fridge here is a fridge with its door to the wall and a thick chain padlocked around it. thats my roommates dumb head in the shot... This seems odd, but for some possible(? ) context, old fridges would sometimes not be able to be opened from the inside so it's possible that this was done to prevent some kid messing around in here (like us) and getting stuck inside. a table with wedding invitations This table was very strange. There were rolled up scrolls all over it (you can see one near the edge of the table on the right). I unraveled one and they turned out to be wedding invitations, and inside each one was a small pouch full of what looked to be herbs of some kind. These all have a reddish hue btw because I had a big spiderman case on my phone. Now, on to what about this house was particularly crazy to us. As we explored it became more and more confusing to us that the wife had just up and left one day. This is because when we went upstairs in the bedroom was a suitcase with her clothes, photos, and even her wallet inside. Her credit cards, her ID, it was all still inside her wallet. Weird right?? I made a joke then, "Wouldn't it be crazy if he actually killed her? " I want to mention again that this is in Patricia, Alberta. It's an extremely small place, everybody knew everybody, including this couple. The population here is 101 people (this is including people who live on farms in the outskirts) to give a little scale here. As we continued to look around we found a section of the house where the ceiling dipped down the way it would if there were stairs there, but it just went down into the floor. We stood there trying to figure it out, and turned out there was a basement entrance hidden under the carpet. We pulled back the carpet and opened the hatch and it smelled foul. This was PRETTY weird. None of us went down there though because it was riddled with spider webs, and directly below was an animal skeleton (which I figure might explain the bad smell). I didn't want to accidentally step on its bones. The final strange thing about this house, was an item I found and took home. side one side 2 Okay. So this thing is one of the most mysterious things I have come across. I have spent SO much time trying to figure out what this is, and I have figured out a couple things at least. But what I haven't been able to figure out is where they originate. Side 1 is a sigil meant for gaining wealth, but it's strange that it is on this because according to what I read it should only work if printed on parchment. Side 2 was pretty recognizable EXCEPT for the loopy M thing in the middle. I still can't figure out what it is meant to be. I also found this forum full of other people trying to figure it out. It seems that there have been a lot of listings for this item on ebay, but nobody knows their origin. Everybody who has them has either found them in strange places or was given them by somebody else. Forum Thread I am VERY open to help in finding out more about this thing. Now onto the next part of this strange string of information. My childhood home was across from the bar, and a neighbour who was extremely religious and extremely anti-drugs. One day she went missing for several weeks. Nobody would talk about it or say where she went or why, and when she came back her entire personality was different and all she wanted to do anymore was smoke weed. Strange right? Well I was told recently that what had really happened was that she had a psychotic break and was admitted into a psych ward. Before hearing this I would joke about her being abducted by aliens and that's why she came back different. I don't actually believe aliens are visiting earth i just joked about it. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who researches cults in their free time, and they told me that it's common for cult members to be hospitalized in secret because people involved in cults are more likely to develop symptoms of psychosis and schizophrenia. Now my theory always revolved around the bar that I used to live across the street from. The Patricia Watering Hole. I don't recommend ever visiting it btw, I was a bartender there and the owners are awful people, and they should've been shut down a billion times over. The manager once had dead puppies in the freezer where they keep the vegetarian burger patties and shrimp for an extended period of time. Yeah... People in Patricia like, worship the bar. It's the center of the town (literally, it is geographically in the center) and everyone acts like their lives revolve around it. In this scenario I'd put the family who owns the bar as the leaders of the cult/secret society. My mom told me about an incident recently that happened while I was just a baby (so sometime in 1996). I was the first person she had ever told since it happened. She told me, that she was having a smoke in the patio late at night when she saw the owner of the bar (I'll call him Jon, and my mom Harley in this). Jon was messing around with the manhole cover in the middle of the road, so she went out there to see what he was doing and he said, "Go home Harley. It's none of your concern. " And weird vague stuff like that, never actually saying what he was doing, and then he went into the manhole. He was down there for a very long time, like upwards of an hour and when he came back, he said the same thing to her, still never explaining what he was doing down there. My roommate works for the city and knows a lot about sewers. He said that the sewers in Patricia are very old and haven't been redone yet. So instead of being made out of concrete it's all brickwork down there. He said that it would be very easy to hide things in the brickwork down there. The event of the wife leaving her husband would have happened right around the same time that the manhole event happened. What was Jon doing in the sewers late at night? So my running theory is that there is some sort of dubious society at work in the tiny town I grew up in, and as some sort of rite, the husband killed his wife but couldn't deal with the guilt so he also died some time after. Most if not all of the town would be part of this group, with the family who owns the bar at the center of it all, and they are keeping secrets in the brickwork of the sewers. I know it's all pretty far fetched, but certain things really add up in a weird way, and if you lived there too, you'd definitely see how I could think the whole town acts like a cult. People there are nuts. I'm pretty open to discussion about all of this. I think I've covered everything pretty good, but if there's any questions I'll try to answer anyway:^).

(hi peoples, this story is the original reason why i joined reddit, so i hope you enjoy:) please feel free to leave criticism, i know its probably a bit cringy and i havent thought of a name for the big bad space empire yet. I hope i post it the right way with the flair and stuff. Enjoy:)) Humanity joins the Star Federation but is challenged by another Species without intervention by the Federation, as its kinda accepted that the Warlike species wage war from time to first, humanity seems weak for their rules of war but as the conflict goes on, humanity leaves those rules behind and starts to truely terrify their oponents. Humanity had spread across their System and got introduced to the Galactic community when they successfully send a member of their species out of their system for the first time, as per until then, an array of over 400 disruptors had prevented them from linking into the galactic information network as they had been considered developing until they left their system for the first the coming years, humanity is graduately accepted into the council as a prospected member but not given high technology or all Information available to the other races. The ____, a warrior-species that based their society in battle, had waited for humanities acceptance into the councils for some time after they had discovered the peaceful species that gently spread across the stars around the Sol Sektor in the past decades. A species that was classified as warlike by the Federation but hadnt waged a war in over 100 years must have lost their knowledge of war along with their bravery to fight them. When they first attacked, the Federation had allready accepted their pledge for war before the Human ambassadors even knew what was going on. The ___ used the lack of experience of their counterparts to pull a well known trick to fasttrack military engagements and due to the fact that both their species were registred as warlike, the Federation council accepted the declaration of war as a natural development in their diplomatic relationship. Humanity was hit hard and with allmost no warning, so when the ____ finished their first campaign across a system that had been colonized about 50 years prior, all resistance they had experienced were some Security Officers, a small garision of light patrol vessels and some private security contractors. With two main Planets in the System, about 500 Million inhabitants in total and a generally carefree attitude, some ____ Warriors wondered if they had indeed attacked a warlike species or if they had mistakenly fought a species that was generally inable to fight back or fight at all. Humans wouldnt fire first, but rather wait until the ___ had taken their first kills until they even took the safety off of their weapons. Humans would take great effords to retrieve the wounded off the battlefield, often risking even more humans in the progress instead of allowing the wounded to have a honourable death in battle. This wouldnt even stop at their own people, but extended to the occasional aliens who lived on human worlds and, suprisingly, even to their enemies, who they saved from death on more than one occasion. In ___ society, this practise was unheard who were fatally injured in battle would accept their fate or bring dishonor to their family, especially if they came from proud Houses which brought generations of Warriors into ____ Service. Little did we understand back then how different we were from humanity. To us, war was a game, a battle of honour, and ageold Law gave us our "Rules of Engagement". Conflict had to be personal, thus it was normal for our Warriors to carry a blade the size of a sword with us at all times. Both for ceremonial reasons as well as actual combat, as every child on ____ is trained in the arts of the blade during their primary School time. We didnt understand the meaning of humanities frantic "non-combatant" and "civilian" Beacons that would light up as soon as we entered a system. To us, every ____ that could stand and fight was a warrior. Those who were to old to fight would usually not live for much longer, as their positions and titles would rightfull fall into the hands of whoever slew them first. About two weeks after our ships had jumped into the system, about two fifths of the human population had vanished, another two fifths had been taken as slaves and got transported off to our empire. The last fifth had either fled the system or gone into hiding, which didnt worry us too much back then. But first, lets talk about the slaves. We didnt think much about it, the slaves didnt have to pay off much as our expenses were quite low, given the amout of resistance we had would have to spend one generation in servitude and their first generation of offspring would allready recieve our citizenship, as required by our ever, we did not expect the reaction we got when word reached their other systems. While they couldnt prevent us from delivering our war trophys to our homeworlds, they were more than able to form a more formidable resistance by the time we reached the next manity hadnt lost their knowledge about war, they had supressed it. When we reached the next system, three to four weeks had passed after our first we started our first landing operation, we expected it to go the way it went the first time, we would land, take their Government and Police out and claim the Planet as our time, we walked around their towns and roads in broad daylight and by the end of the second week, most Warriors had stopped wearing their Helmets due to the lack of we known what was waiting for us, maybe we wouldnt have let our Helmets dangle off the sides of our exoskeletons, maybe we would have double checked our equipment and, most importantly, we would have landed with greater force. We felt like we were going on a mandatory trip with our schools rather than dropping into battle, but when our dropships passed the half-way mark between our ships and the surface, we very suddenly realized that this time, it wouldnt be as pleasant as the last time. About 30 Kilometers above the upper clouds, we were greeted by their "Surface to Air" Missiles, a technology that we werent used to due to the inpersonal nature of their use. A number of ships got taken out of the sky while the ones with the more aware pilots dove straight to the ground instead of staying in our classic, intimidating closer we got, the more fire we took. At about 10km above ground, their cannons joined in, hunting our craft with long strings of bright tracerfire and radar-guided dropped out of the sky and allmost crashlanded more than 15 Miles off our landing zone in a mpared to the sweet, organized landing on the first world, this was a nightmare. They had taken out 46 of the 70 Landing Craft of the first wave, another 12 were unable to return to their Mothership to bring the second wave in. 24 Landing Teams were on the ground, scattered across an area of more than 50 square miles. But, i thought, now we had stepped on the ground, now we would just take them out like we did before. I didnt think that the way these Humans would fight could change so much from one system to another, but our first contact about 10 Minutes later prooved us had set up an ambush down a path we had to take to get to the rest of our Troops, and this time we didnt shoot Projectile-Based weapons might have been old, but they had no problem penetrating our Exoskeletons like it was nothing. ____ Armor is mostly oriented towards energy based weapons, the ceramic plating is stiff and not build to repell projectile arent a problem, the heat gets dispersed greatly across the plate and is allmost unnoticable up to 120MW, but projectiles shatter them like they are made of clay. Consequently, the moment the first handheld Machinegun opened up on us, we lost 4 honourable warriors which had agreed to take up the front. We walked in the middle of the path, highly visible as our traditions expected us to, and they had hid among the gras, behind the trees and on top of the surrounding we got pinned down, we tried to retreat, just to have our exit blow up after they had send "grenades" from Launchers that they had attached *under* their allready automatic we not been saved last minute by another squad, im sure i would be sitting in ___hell____ right now. But they were flanked and retreated with minor losses back into the more than 30 Minutes had passed since the landing but most of my squad had allready been wiped should have ended it there, should have packed up our stuff and waited on our Planets for their should have given them their people back before they came and got them, but we didnt. And that was a mistake we would soon come to deeply regret. We did "capture" the planet, we did storm their palaces and police stations, but they were expected them to be there to be captured, ignorant as we were, but the civilian leaders had been evacuated long before our first scouts jumped into the stead, we had our first contact with the human concept of an "Improvised Explosive Device" when we drove our convoy across a country road three weeks after the had dug themselves into the mountains and used a technique called "mining" to deny us use of their lightly armored transports, which drove in a single file back then, ran on something that later turned out to have been the warhead of one of those Anti Air rockets we had experienced first Vehicle and its inhabitants were spread across the road and the bordering field within the blink of an eye while the rear guard was taken out by a Handheld were fired upon instantly, again without so much as a clear direction from where the fire came from. I barely survived after getting hit twice, but we brought in air support in the form of a field-modified dropship and managed to drive them off. We had learned by then that we hadnt won when they stopped firing, but that they would just run at the first sight of an opponent that they couldnt take out *yet*. I was infuriated, just like many of my brothers and sisters who felt offended by the way the humans wouldnt come out to fight personally, they wouldnt accept their inferiority, they just extended the fighting every time they ran away just to attack us again an hour later. Every time they engaged us, they got better and our losses rose while we would rarely get so much as a body of these soft, slimy bags of flesh. Back then, our next step seemed logical to us. To first kill 10, then 50, then 100 Humans for every dead thought it would break their spirit, but it didnt. Even when we poisoned a whole city, killing every Man, Woman and Child inside, they didnt stop. The next day however, we learned a new form of Human violence. Up until that point, our engagements had been with trained Soliders who had stayed behind to engage us in what they called guerillia warfare. But the day after the poisoning, we met another form of human warfare. I was guarding a checkpoint near one of our installations when a single Human Woman walked up to us and, after being stopped by one of my guards, detonated a large amount of explosives hidden in her backpack and under her clothes. Again, i barely got out alive, but my checkpoint was a total loss. Her eyes and calm attitude haunt me to this day. Incidents like these started popping up across the four systems we had taken so driving their gliders into checkpoints and convoys, IED`s, Hostage Situations and public executions became a common thing while their regular troops still engaged in their organized Hit and Run operations as well as soon starting to fight us openly whenever they amassed enough troops to get to us. While it took us two weeks to take the first System, the next three made us bite on granite. Technically, we had taken them within 24 hours of our landing. Every physical mark of power had been occupied or destroyed, every Government building had our flag, every of their bases had been bombed and burned. But they hid in the woods, in the mountains and in the cities, came out at night and shot one or two of our warriors before disappearing more we hit their population in return, the more daring and aggressive their tactics, they wouldnt mind blowing up a Shopping Center full of their own if it meant to take out a couple of ours frequenting a restaurant there. They would blow themselves up just to maim a couple of our Warriors. They would leave Mines in places where their kids would step on them instead of us, just for the odd chance that one of us would wander onto them some day. And we couldnt use their planets as a base to jump to the next systems. They were especially focussed on taking out every form of logistic equipment we had send to supply our war efford. Whatever it was, it would be sabotaged, blown to pieces, under constant sniper surveilliance or simply dissapear in the night, often together with the as if that wasnt enough, every once in a while one of them would get a reputation for being the most brutal of them all, a title that made some of our younger warriors stay up at night in would turn killing into an Artform, using tools or methods that werent origninally intended for killing, just to drag it out a little bit longer and stream it across their networks. When we finally managed to bring up enough resources to crush their rebellion and move on to the next system, we had no idea what was waiting for us at the next War had stretched out over more than six months by now, so much damage had been caused by these few fighters in the hiding. My first landing was nothing but a faint memory by now, the first occupation had become something of a cynical joke compared to the mess we were in right now, and i couldnt wait to be transferred back to the safety of our ship. We had learned from our mistakes by now and had started to study humanities history in depth, which was promptly classified after the higher ups had read some of the less pretty parts of their of Humanities abilities spiraled out of controll by that point. A race that had no notable standing military by the start of the war had managed to put a halt to our offense after a were the greatest and most feared race in the known galaxy, our raids and wars had brought us much fortune and honor, but humanity didnt care about all that. They broke everything we could have used to gain power, even if it meant condeming their own to a death of hunger or stead of accepting their defeat, they hid among their broken powerplants and started firing without a chance to get away or come out on top. It became more and more common for them to activate their handheld explosives in the case of capture, which in turn made us adopt the policy of shooting any living human on the end, after about 6 months, we were victorious and took control over the second, third and fourth system we had attacked. But at what cost? Gone where the glory, the bravery of the our shiny armor that got passed on from generation to generation was eventually covered first in mud and then in paint that would reflect less light. Our ornaments and signs of success were covered in dirt while we had lost all our honor in our fight to win this "war". We prepared for our next jumps into human space, when we suddenly recieved signals from about 30 Human ships on their way from hyperspace. They jumped into formation and engaged us without prior notice, which cought us off looked alot like the patrol vessels we had previously engaged, but bulkier, bigger and with more of these guns started engaging us at once, unleashing so much fire that our computers noticed that the ships had to engage their thrusters to correct the backwards motion caused by firing the guns. Then, after they had send their first volley, they jumped straight through our formation back into hyperspace, leaving just a small group of very fast moving crafts which were heading straight for the planet. Calculating the speed and trajectory, we expected them to smash into the ground as there would be no way any living thing would survive the deceleration nessessary for the crafts to land safely. We fired anyways, using our Lasercannons and plasmacannons. But even if we took out a couple of their ships, we watched in awe as they entered the atmosphere and pulled a long beam of ionized air behind them. They did land, they did get their cargo off, and we didnt find out what it was until it was to late. However, this wasnt my fight anymore, as i was on my way home after a total of thirtyseven engagements over the course of half a year. ~~~~~ End of part 1 ~~~~~~ ~~~~~ Continuation: ~~~~~ About a week passed since my last entry. The chaos of war has passed for me now, instead im enjoying relative boredom in the medical ward of one of our stations. Its a big one and ive been here often, both as a young _____ when my family and i were passing through on our way to and from the holidays as well as in training when we learned advanced zero-gravity fighting. Its allways been a blast and even now, with all the things going through my head, i cant help but notice the amount of care every nurse and doctor give to their patients. By our standards, ive become a War Hero. I survived countless battles and slew many enemies, or at least thats what they want the people to believe. Ive been giving interviews with galactic media, of course under strict supervision by our officers. Its a great picture they want me to paint, one of conquest and victory, when i cant stop thinking about the images ive seen. Humans are a warlike species, that much had been found out by now, but not like us. They were the first to made me question "war" as a concept. Question if we were warlike, or just a bunch of posers with shoulderpads. Between my interviews and rehab i had alot of time to think about what made our species so great, what made us so special compared to the pacifist species that we despised so much. And, to my shame, i have to admit that i had started to doubt what was once such a basic law of the universe, but the war had prooven that we were not the greatest species in the universe. And as i laid there, caught in my deep thoughts, it would turn out that i was right. Do you remember what i said about the slaves earlier? That we should have given them back, that we should have ignored our traditions this one time? The humans had tried to negotiate up until this point. Even the poisoning, the indifferent killing and our other shenanigans didnt push them away from the diplomatic table. However, one day they just stood up and left without a word. A corps of people who had previously endured every insult, every humiliation, every threat, just stood up and walked away. Our diplomats, being the fools they were, declared this a victory and took their time to relay this to their superiors, who also took their time. In rough estimates, transmitted from one personal guard to the next and then to me, youd have to calculate about a bottle of Warriors Blood between each layer of command before the news reached the ones who could actually make sense of it, but by then it was allready too late. As a matter of fact, i learned about this (while not knowingly) about 5 minutes and 30 seconds after the human delegacy had jumped out of our homeworlds system, a delay that would cost at least one Human its job. None of our diplomats were even reprimanded. While i was looking out of my window, a task force of 12 Human ships jumped right ontop of the stations security detail. It took them about 1 minute to turn them into smoldering wrecks floating in space. At the same time, one of the ships which hadnt reversed thrusters slammed into the side of our station, kicking it into a deadly trajectory just by the impact alone. My rooms lights immediatly went off and got replaced by a mix of the galactic standard "Hull Breach" allert, our species own "intruder allert" and a variety of announcements declaring either that "All people aboard this station are to remain calm and in their rooms", "The station has to be abandonned immediatly" and "all security personell report to decks 6-11". It later turned out that the Humans had blocked our entire radio communication as soon as they had entered the system. Knowing fully well that the first message wasnt going to save my life if things got bad, i stepped out of the bed and put on some clothes to reach the escape pods. The thought of a heroic death in battle crossed my mind, but i had seen enough of this kind of heroism. More often than not, it would take time before you would be gifted with death, and by then you had lost your dignity allready. Now, as i was making my way to the pods, i saw those nurses and doctors in fear. I saw armored _____ run towards the elevators and staircases and knew that now wasnt the time to abandon ship. I hated it, i hated our societies conventions so much at that moment, but i knew that i would loose my honour and probably my families honour as well if i had set a single foot into the escape pods. So, instead, i pulled my sword from its sheath, and slowly walked forward towards the lower decks, where we would process the human slaves before they got send to different parts of the Empire. And as i realized this, as i realized what the humans were after, i felt a kind of fear i had not felt before in my life. I started at the Infirmary on Level 15 and made my way downstairs, following those who had been smart enough to use the stairs. The further i got, the louder got the shooting, the explosions and the shouting. I could make out the destinct sound of their main service weapon, but just rarely. Instead i heard alot of something smaller, with a much higher rate of fire. At deck 12, the group ahead of me regrouped for a moment and planned their attack when they noticed me (i had become somewhat of a celebrity thanks to the interviews) and the commanding officer asked me to stay at his side. We breached, silently, and proceeded to clear the floor. Wherever we looked, dead _____ were spread everywhere. Their, our blood was spread across the walls so massively that if you had removed the bodies, it would have looked like an artpiece by some interior designer. But not a single one of our men had survived. Not a single ____, out of the more than 300 that were concerned with slave processing, got out alive. If that wasnt a telling sign, i dont know what was. Up until this point, they hadnt tried to take out whole groups of us, they had allways left a majority either unharmed or injured. Another strange fact was that every slave held on Level 11 was gone. They had taken no more than 5 minutes to move every living, non _____ being out of a station the size of a capitol ship. They had breached every single lock, had killed every single guard, but the only evidence for their presence were their fallen soliders. We still heard shots from the decks below us, but the one and only living human i ever saw that day was one that had been in interogation during the attack. She got executed, publicly, a good week after the station had fallen into its sun. She had been a farmer, had never left her land before we took her. It didnt sit right with the humans, and yet, they had still to show their final form. Afterwards, weeks after the execution, after i had escaped the station while it collapsed, after our first attempt at invading their next planets failed, after our second attempt got crushed, rumors started to spread that we had... gone in over our heads. The ones that had attacked the station were from a specialized unit that trained exclusively for these kinds of missions. Our warriors, while great, were organized in clans, and none of them had ever dreamed about specializing this much into one certain task. Operations were usually thought out by our superiors and then assigned to the warrior with the highest chance of success, something that in turn was determined by the honour this warrior and his or her family had previously earned. Special Operations Units, like the humans called them, were just logistically impractical. A ____ that specialized in hostage situations like they did would have to reduce their training for personal combat and thus be more likely to get killed over a fight for a position of benefit. Humans didnt have those concerns, humans usually dont kill. Humans are friendly with each other and turn their backs on one another. Because if you kill a human, the rest of humanity will come to kill you. The tide of the war had changed by now, our third invasion had been met by an overwhelming fleet of heavily armed ships. They had driven us away from their core worlds once and for all, and we had to use the worlds we had conquered allmost a year prior to defend our borders against their revenge. Their planets got liberated, one after the other, and with every day there was a new horror unleashed by humanity. When their dropships landed, they would simultaneously unleash their "air superiority" and strike everything within hundreds of miles of their dropzone. We got introduced to aerial napalm, another picture i will never forget. We found out what carpet bombing was when we tried to dig in like they had. We werent prepared. Our species had the first PTSD epidemic in our history as hundreds of shellshock warriors returned home, unable to fight. But noone had guessed their greatest weapon. Their intelligence had taken our slave records from the station they pushed into the sun. They had (rightfully) guessed that if they would start to free slaves, we would take the rest of the slaves and either move them somewhere else or make an example out of them. What followed was another surprise attack by humanity: One night, humanity went for the largest rescue operation in galactic history. A total of more than 100 million Humans had been abducted and actually delivered to their owners. (the other half had to be written off due to... poor handling... ehrm. ) We had tracked date of aquiration, date of processing, but most importantly: date of delivery, place of delivery and future owners. We had done all the work for them, all they had to do was send out an average of one hyperspace-capable ship per 20-30 people and pick them up. Actually, all they had to do was calculate the exact amount of time needed for the jumps, time every jump accordingly to prevent early detection and then... strike simultaneously across our empire, killing well over 100 million ____ in the process and jump back to human space. Documentaries that got produced by them after the war say it was a 48 hour operation, that many of their soliders and special forces were involved and that it had put everything prior to shame. I couldnt help but agree, as i had been struggling to make 40 warriors cross a road in one line back in my days as a field officer. They also had another objective: They made sure the galaxy knew not to enslave humans. Not a single owner survived that night. They all got slaughterd. Whole families got killed in their sleep. They would light every farm on fire that held their kind captive. They would sometimes stop to take the time and dig out allready dead human bodies just to dig them back in where they were born. I understood, even though our culture treated the bodies as what they were, bodies for the soul to walk the worlds in. But with all these miracles going on, we allmost forgot one important thing: Humanity had struck our homes. Not only that, but they were the first to do so after more than one hundred generations of unchallenged supremacy in the federation. We didnt have much time to react though, as our foothold in their space got crushed shortly after. Without, what we soon realized they intepreted as a meatshield, they fully unleashed their rage for the first time. They had rebuild a weapon so devastating, so horrible, that they had outlawed it centuries ago. They, the monsters, the insane, had outlawed it. At least thats what they told us and the galaxy, when a lone ambassador stood upon the galactic stage. They said they were so sorry, that they never intended to go down that path again, that we had pushed them. They had looked forward to being introduced to the community and they had hoped to recieve help from the others, but they were disapointed. That was when the news came in. They had send the first cockroach. A cockroach is an animal thats native to Earth. Its rumored that these are so indistructable that they would even survive the end of times, but humanity hadnt send some critter to annoy us into submission. Instead, what they called a cockroach was a hydrogenic bomb that, once its hyperdrive had shot it into a system, would explode. The explosion, while fun to look at, didnt do much in outer space. However, the 20 to 30 equally sized hydrogen bombs that were launched by the explosion would, as they had a tendency to slam into Stations, Ships, Relays, Moons and of course: our planets. Now you might ask why its called cockroach, and it turns out that the reason for that is that if you step on one, it whill shoot its eggs everywhere, thus guaranteeing the survival of its species. Hydrogen Cockroaches work on the same principle, exept there is nothing thats going to survive a 50 Megaton Explosive that just rammed its way through three layers of durasteel while going supercritical. Another reason could be that they had given the warheads semi-smart characteristics by scanning the brainpatterns of a cockroach running after food. We were the food. They hit four systems, again perfectly timed, while the ambassador held his speech. He offered us peace under the condition that we would surrender immediatly and without conditions, and for the first time, the galactic senate saw our representative speechless. No quick response, no laughter, nothing. The eyes of countless races were suddenly very focussed on what the human had to say next. The human, however, said thank you and left. He went back to his ship and flew away, under the eyes of our best guards and the galactic security. Nobody dared to even touch him. He had left us with an ultimatum, seven days or they would come and take our capitol. We didnt know what to do, what to say, how to respond. Our leaders waited a day, argued about what to do. They spend the second day mobilizing troops, ordering them around, letting them parade up and down the alleys to show strenght. On the third day, they had stopped parading around, they had noticed that they didnt have enough weapons to equip all of the conscripts. By the fourth, word got to the people and panic started to flow through the streets. Warriors were seen returning home during this crucial time, but nobody would shame them, nobody would call them out. Just a few old and a few incapable people screamed at them, demanding they gave up their lives to protect our way. When the fifth day rolled around, we got a message from humanity, short, direct and incredibly scary: "72 Hours left. " The first suicide in our senate happened that day. We didnt respond. At 00:01 on the 7th day, every ____ recieved a simple message, broadcasted on every frequency, send to every holodeck, shown and repeated by every radio and every billboard. "If you are not part of _____ fighting forces, please leave the area. " Humanity had send a probe that had hacked its way into our broadcasting systems while zooming around our system at close to light speed. At 23:59 human time, exactly one day after the message had started, it corrected its path, accelerated above lightspeed and ran into the capitols main orbital station, obliterating it in the process, sending thousands of tons of debris into our orbit. Humanity had begun its attack. The moment the clock turned to 00:00, our sky got lit up by the hyperspace jumps of an armada jumping in. The sky got darkened by the amount of steel and ship suddenly in orbit above our planet. They didnt wait either, half of them started to bomb us from orbit while the other half rained dropships into our cities. They engaged on sight, fired on everything that moved and litterally flattened the majority of the capitol within the first three hours. Had we known that the parades of the last week would have been the last ones our once proud race would hold, maybe more would have watched. But now it was over. They had flattened our city basically in an instant and there was nothing we could do about it. Our leaders, at least those who hadnt taken their own lives, were shown across the empire as they denounced their actions and signed the treaty that would disarm us. We had to repay the damages we had caused, return the goods we had taken and swear to never again wage war. And eventually, we struck our own name out of the history books as a final sign of remorse. Our name, that once struck fear into the hearts of others, that told of our honour and glory. We werent worthy of it anymore, we had ventured too far into the darkness to regain it. Our capitol, the place that once gave us our name so many centuries ago, has been turned into a park. A Park named after the first Human we killed on the first planed i had jumped on, so long ago, when i was still wearing my fathers armor and my grandmothers sword. Now we live under human rule, like so many lived under ours once. Were not slaves though, were free, and while our species as a whole has to pay for the next century, we as individuals are free to go wherever we want, learn whatever we want, take up arts and music previously forbidden. Why did we even wage war in the first place? (I hope you enjoyed the read:)).
